Family Schneider - English

Georg Ismar Schneider, born on June 22, 1876 in Jastrow, Westpreußen, runs a store for men- and boys clothing. On July 18, 1911 he marries Rosa Else Stensch. The family lives in Sternstraße 8 and later in Benedektiner Straße 5.

Geord and Rosa Else have three children: Edith, Kurt Siegbert (passed away in 1917) and the twins Margot and Karl Heinz. Edith is denied permission to the Abitur examination in 1933 due to her critical stance towards National Socialism. She becomes a pharmaceutical assitant and works in various positions and locations, including Hungary, Leipzig and Berlin. In 1939 she flees to England and works as a maid until her marriage to textile technician Gustav Braunsberg.

The twins Margot and Karl Heinz presumably work at her parents store and are likely conscripted to forced labor from around 1940. On January 31, 1941 Karl Heinz dies, the circumstances are unknown. Only his grave is located at the israelitic cemetery in Magdeburg. Georg Ismar Schneider, Rosa Else and Margot are deported to Warsaw Ghetto on April 14, 1942 and most likely are brought to Treblinka, where they are murdered.
